On the night Jesus was betrayed

On the night Jesus was betrayed,
He took the bread and blessed,
broke and gave to His disciples,
in remembrance of Him.

The Lord said to His disciples,
"Eat, this my body is,
in agony I break for you,
eat and remember me."

The cup with blood of covenant,
He gave to them to drink,
"Drink, in remembrance of my blood,
shed to redeem man's sins."

Now eat this bread and drink this cup,
continue, do not cease,
till I return, in God's kingdom,
we shall drink it anew.

Now we keep the Lord's commandment,
rememb'ring His great love,
Lord, give us strength in flesh and soul,
as we press t'ward the mark.
